Bibendum

Located at the historic Michelin House on 81 Fulham Road in Chelsea, London, Bibendum -2-star Michelin restaurant-,  offers an elegant fine dining experience with a warm, sophisticated vibe.

The entrance to Bibendum is from Sloane avenue. What I truly love about this building is the charming touch of the fresh flower display and shop at the main entrance. Bursting with vibrant colors and captivating scents, always brings a fresh and unique scent to the visitor or by-passer.

Michelin House was designed as a tribute to the legacy of the tyre and the iconic Michelin Man aka 'Bib', Bibendum. The mosaic-tiled floors feature Bibendum lifting a goblet, and the striking stained-glass windows depict him as a cigar-smoking cyclist and a kickboxer.

The walls are adorned with ceramic tiles illustrating the thrilling early era of motor racing, and two dome-like structures, shaped to resemble stacks of tyres, frame the building’s unique architecture. Stained glass windows, ceramics, ironwork are the main elements of the building.

The Art Deco interiors, bathed in natural light through stunning stained-glass windows, enhance the tone for a relaxed yet luxurious meal.

Chef Claude Bosi, known for his bold and innovative French culinary style, took over the restaurant in 2017. His menu features a blend of classic and contemporary dishes, utilizing the finest seasonal British and French ingredients. Signature offerings include the 'Bibendum egg' and the renowned double chocolate soufflé.

We visited in February 2022 for lunch. We were offered three menus to choose from and when you are accompanied, the concept is that all diners experience the same one to share and delve into the flavors.

Bib is prevalent — from the windows and artwork to the butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, and silver egg cup.

Dining at Bibendum is a true celebration of culinary artistry—a heaven for passionate food lovers. Each dish bursts with bold, sophisticated flavours and rich, layered tastes that reflect the finest ingredients and masterful techniques. From delicate starters to indulgent mains, every bite was meticulously crafted, showcasing the chef's deep respect for tradition and innovation.

Our dining experience would not be the same without the famous chocolate soufflé.

The soufflé itself depicting Bib, is served in a silver dish, with a generous amount of chocolate ganache on the spot. A scoop of the finest Madagascan vanilla ice.

The perfect end to our experience: elegant, expressive, and unforgettable.

*A fun fact is that the stained glass were removed during WWII, to avoid bomb destruction.

Michelin House is officially listed. In 1969, the front section facing Fulham Road was designated as a Grade II listed structure on the National Heritage List for England.
